Your privacy, and the fine print.
1. Your statements stay on your device by default
When you use the standard on-device tool, your statements (CSV, PDF, or photo) are read, categorized, and matched to cards entirely inside your web browser, using code running on your own computer or phone. Unless you explicitly choose one of the optional AI tools below, the contents of your statements are not sent to our servers, not stored by us, and not shared with anyone. The default tool still works if you turn off your internet after the page loads. We never ask for a bank login, account numbers, or your Social Security number.
Two optional exceptions, and only if you click the button yourself:
- "Let AI sort these for me" (merchant names only). This sends only the merchant names we already found (for example, "BULLFROG WINE SPIRITS") for one smarter categorization pass. It never sends amounts, dates, your name, or your account number. The names are used once to answer and are not stored.
- "Read these files with AI" (when one or more files would not open on your device). When our on-device reader cannot open one or more statements, you may choose to send up to 12 prepared page images from each unclear file included in that recovery choice, once, over an encrypted connection. The page images can contain anything visible on those statement pages, including your name, mailing address, account details, transactions, or other printed information. Anthropic processes the images once through its Claude API to return the transaction result. DailyCardWatch does not store the page images. We send only pages prepared from the unclear files included in that recovery choice, never the clear files in the rest of your upload.
Both are strictly opt-in. If you never click either button, nothing from your statements ever leaves your device. Because the selected page images are not redacted before AI recovery, review the file first and use CSV/QFX, manual entry, or the ignore option if it contains anything you do not want sent to Anthropic. We never ask you to enter a bank login, full card number, or Social Security number.
2. Website analytics (this is not your financial data)
Like most websites, we collect a small amount of information about site visits so we can understand traffic and improve the site. This covers only how the website itself is used, never the contents of your statements. Specifically:
- Pages you view and the path you take through the site, and time on each page.
- Your IP address and the approximate location (city/country) it maps to.
- Your device and browser type, and the site that referred you (for example, a search engine).
We use this first-party analytics for our own understanding of traffic. We do not use advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent your data, and we do not build advertising profiles. To do this, your browser stores a random visitor identifier in local storage (not an advertising cookie).
3. Email updates (opt-in only)
If you choose to sign up for card update emails, then, and only then, we store the email address you give us and a short summary of your spending (for example, your category totals and the card we recommended), so we can tell you when a better card appears for you. This is separate from the optional AI tools described above and happens only because you asked us to watch for you. We do not store your raw statements. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any update email, which deletes your stored information.
4. What we never do
- We are independent and never paid by any card issuer to include, rank, or recommend a card.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your information.
- We never require or ask for a bank login, full card number, or Social Security number.
5. Terms of use
For information, not advice. DailyCardWatch is an educational comparison tool. The card rewards, fees, bonuses, and dollar figures it shows are estimates for comparison, based on publicly known offers, and may be out of date or wrong. They are not financial advice and not a guarantee. Always confirm a card's current terms on the issuer's own website before you apply.
Not a financial advisor or credit service. We are not a licensed financial advisor, a bank, a budgeting app, or a credit-approval or credit-repair service. Decisions about which cards to get or how to manage credit are yours.
No guarantee. The tool is provided "as is." We work to keep card data accurate but cannot promise it is complete or error-free, and we are not liable for decisions made based on it. Approval, rewards, and terms are set by the card issuers, not by us.
Card names are the property of their respective issuers, used here for identification and comparison only. Any personas or figures in sample reports are illustrative examples, not real customers.
